IIHM is the part of the IndiSmart Group which was founded in 1994, which has its branches spread across the country, just to name it , Delhi, Bangalore, Jaipur, and in Bangkok which has a state of an art campus. Consequently, the students have the option and flexibility to study at UK in the Edinburgh Napier University, UK or the University of West London, London or at the IIHM at KBU campus in Bangkok at different stages during their education at IIHM campuses in India . Across the Atlantic, in United States, IIHM is tied up with the DeVry USA, Australia, Mauritius, Middle East and the South East Asian countries. IIHM provides globally recognised degrees in hospitality management collaborating with The Edinburgh Napier University, UK and tie-up with University of West London, London.
IIHM recently organized and played host to 51 countries who participated in the 2nd Young Chef Olympiad which was held in the cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. Daniella from Niagara College, Canada was adjudged the winner by a glittering array of judges like Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, Chef Kunal Kapoor, Chef Ranveer Brar, Chef Andreas Muller, Prof. David Foskett and our very own Chef Shaun Kenworthy amongst many others on 1st February 2016 in the finals held at Kolkata. IIHM has always been a leader in organising such events and offering an opportunity for many talents to emerge.
IIHM Alumni network is over 3000+ across the world and working with some most renowned and largest Hotel chains of the world. The supremely accomplished alumni group has proved to be some of the best human resources, creating and disseminating knowledge about hospitality management to the Indian & the global hospitality industry University & Keller Graduate School of Management in Fremont CA. Similarly, in Canada, IIHM is developing partnership with the George Brown College and eventually this partnership will help students to study, work and make a living in Canada. Till date, more than 3000 students have launched their career in Europe, USA, Canada & South East Asia through these routes & are working in some of the most renowned and largest Hotel chains of the world.
The final year students organise the food festival and the idea behind this is get some hands-on learning experience in hospitality Industry.
IIHM Pune’s 5th International Føod Festival was organised on 9th Dec 2016 at Ishanya Mall, they took us on the journey of Untold Stories of Culinary Invaders with 7 different Cuisines from Arab, Mongolia, Greece, Portugal, UK, Iran, and Mughal Empire, to resuscitate the taste buds.
The Guest of Honour was Mr. Prashant Jagtap – Hon. Mayor Pune City,
Mr. Neerav Panchamia- President- Poona Hoteliers Association,
Dr. Suborno Bose Chairman IndiSmart Group, and other dignitaries from the Hospitality Industry.
The Evening got delayed due to some technical reason but then guest have already started tasting some delicacy spread. The event started with Introduction speech and Directors Speech followed by the cultural performances by the students. The most fascinating performance was of the Bartending and fire show which was the most appreciated performance among others.
As it was International food festival cum the cultural event, they had also organised some fun Games and Fashion show. We were enjoying the performance along with some exotic food around the world.
We couldn’t resist to try some mouth watering desserts section without giving a second thought we grabbed our plates and first was:
Baklava- Single bite portion, crisp outer covering, with tender soft within.
Croquembouche (France): freshly baked, creme stuffed soft and spongy puff.
Pan Shots (Awadhi): Served in small shot glass with Gulkand and Pan Flavour syrup.
SheerKorma (Mughal/Awadhi): Warm and loaded with Dryfruits. Perfect taste not too sweet.
Lemon Bar/Assorted Pastries: Nice fresh lemon flavour milk based toffee shaped sweet. Pastries were good in taste although.
Date Balls: Crushed Dates with Dryfruits and rolled in Poppy seeds.
We tried some Starters from Awadhi section:
Shammi Kebab/Kacche kele ki Tikki : Both the Kebabs were made right over there and serving hot with the Peanut chutney and mint chutney.
In Portuguese/Goan: Caldo Verde Soup : Nice and warm mix vegetable soup perfect for the winters.
Veg Caldeen: It is traditionally made with fish or seafood but can be easily adapted into a vegetarian dish and is a tasty nutritarian dish too!
Portuguese Style Roasted Baby Potato : Skinned Potato marinated with Goan spices and roasted they absorb the spices.
Veg Moussaka: Eggplant is the main ingredient in most moussaka recipes, because it is easily grown and cultivated in the Mediterranean. with roasted eggplants, zucchini, lentils, tomatoes, peppers, spices and rich creamy béchamel sauce. served warm or at the room temperature. \
Healthy greek Salad: Tossed in front of me with all the fresh ingredients like Feta, Beans, Olives, Roasted peppers, and many more.
Mughlai: Panner Lahori: Panner Was too chewy and the Curry taste was absolutely basic.
Hyderabadi Veg Pulav: This was as well bit Bland in taste. No aroma, pulav was very dry.
Mongolian: Mongolian Grill: Chestnuts, Mushrooms, Babycorn, Broccoli, Tofu with Dips and sauces mixed with Noddles.
Thirst quenchers drinks in association with Retox Gastropub: We tried some from the menu: Black Street: Sweet and tangy in flavour which has Watermelon, Cranberry, Mandarin Orange juice and for fizz Coke.
Small World: Sweet in taste, with Litchi syrup, apple flavoured syrup some sweetener with fresh apple slices placed on top.
We had an quick interactive session with the Mr. Dr. Suborno Bose Chairman IndiSmart Group, wherein he informed us about the future plans of the institute and overall development and improvement they are making to pass on the best knowledge to the aspirants.
