Basil Deck started its first venture at ABC Farms. I was the part of one of the first Zomato Meet-up. It was one of the memorable event of the food blogging scene in Pune. After that meet-up I had visited half a dozen times just to have their Maa ki Daal. It was so tempting that I use to crave for that daal and I still do.
It was my pleasure to visit along with RadioOne Team for their #FoodTrails to their newly opened outlet at Marketyard and relish the same Maa ki daal and other delicious food they serve.
It was a great to meet Mr. Nikhil the owner and passionate foodie who runs the show at Basil Deck. After the quick photo session of the beautifully done interiors, we settled down for the lunch. The place is very nicely decorated keeping in mind the patrons and which suited for all the age groups. At the venue you can have a private and well organised small party or celebration as well. They also have ample parking space as its a bungalow converted in to a restaurant.
We started with the soups followed by mouth watering appetizers.
In soups they served thier signature soups, Zucchini Suppa and Cream of Broccoli: Zucchini Suppa was creamy, warm and with hint of spice. On the other hand Cream of Broccoli was again creamer then the first but more soothingly tasty.
Appetizers: Newly introduced dish called Paneer Pesto: Paneer was graciously marinated in pesto sauce. Paneer was actually melting in mouth. Totally blissful appetizers to start with.
Cheese Bulletto: Stuffed Jalapeño finely chopped veggies with black olives along with saffron creamy googy cheese and sweet little balls were shallow fried to perfect golden brown outer cover. Served with fresh salad.
As this place covers many cuisine like Continental, Mexican, Italian and Indian. So thought of giving a try with their Sizzlers.
Harbour Supreme: This was a meal in itself. Grilled vegetables cooked in Concasse served on tossed spaghetti along with crispy fries. All the ingredients were flavourful and perfectly cooked. Spaghetti added a twist to the sizzler.
Paneer Baloucha: This was from the chef’s special menu. Paneer cooked in rich gravy with minced veggies and to add some sweetness cream was added to it.
Maa ki Dal: This one is to die for. I had it when they were operating in ABC Farms and fell for it right away with the first spoon. Dal is cooked for 24 hrs this results the perfect thickness and rich in aroma. This goes so well with the laccha paratha, can’t really put in words. You need to try this out for sure.
Desserts: Gulab Jamun and Chocolate Fantasy: This is the best from both the world’s. Gulab Jamun was soft with right amount of sweetness. Chocolate Fantasy was nice and good portion size for two.
Basil Deck is a perfect place for the Vegetarian’s with good ambience and excellent food options to choose from.
Basil Deck also gives you an option to celebrate your Birthday and Anniversary with a private family section which is apart from the restaurant.
